Mark Greengrass is professor emeritus of early modern history at the University of Sheffield, specializing in 16th and 17th-century France. He is also a fellow at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies, and in 2013 he will teach a short summer course with Philip Benedict at the Institute for the History of the Reformation in Geneva on “The Reformation, the Family, and the Social Order.” His recent publications include Governing Passions: Peace and Reform in the French Kingdom, 1576-1585 (2007).
