Research Area: Buddhism and South Asian Religious Traditions

Adeana specializes in early South Asian Buddhism and American Buddhism. Her interests include material culture, cosmology, postcolonial studies, and critical race theory. Adeana’s current work includes a project on race and ethnicity in American Buddhism and the placement of Black American Buddhists within local and transnational discourses of racialisation and religion. Part of this project will be published in the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of Race and Religion in American History.
