Maciej Piotr Karasinski-Sroka
Maciej Karasinski is a PhD student in the Department of Religious Studies at Stanford University. His research focuses on the ritualism of Śākta communities in Kerala.
He studied Sanskrit literature at the University of Calicut (India) and Indian philology at Jagiellonian University. He was also a visiting scholar at the Sapienza Università di Roma, participated in academic projects on Sanskrit and Malayalam manuscripts, and received a scholarship from the Government of India(ICCR)to conduct research in Kerala. His research interests include Tantric ritualism (Krama and Śrīvidyā), environmental anthropology and healing and shamanic practices in Asia. He also trains and researches Kerala martial arts (kaḷaripayattu). Before coming to Stanford, he worked as a lecturer in comparative literature at Hainan University in China.
